For over 24 years, the Young School has pioneered an innovative, child-centered preschool education program. Our Pre-K curriculum, inspired by the Reggio Emilia Approach, places a strong emphasis on creative expression as well as academics. We celebrate the capabilities of all children and foster a collaborative environment for children, teachers and families.
Art Studio teacher: Primary responsibilities include hands-on studio work with young children in a variety of media: drawing clay, paint, collage, wire, etc; as well as providing nurturing care-giving throughout the day. The goal is to provide children with the resources and techniques needed to express themselves fully through a variety of interesting and provocative materials and experiences – building relationships with materials and each other in a studio setting. The Art Studio teacher collaborates and plans with a team of teachers and plays a key role in all aspects of the curriculum. The Art Studio teacher is also an active participant in documentation and exhibiting children’s work.
